Frequently asked questions & Errata

errata

  1. Page 11, Ally Cards: Ally cards work differently from Action cards. They’re horizontal, and when they’re played they go above your character card, where they’ll stay until they are defeated by another player, after which they'll be moved to their player's discard pile. Thus, you can get their benefit every turn they remain alive. They can’t be used as a metal or to refresh flared metal tokens, and aren’t powered directly by metals as Action cards are.

  2. Page 12, step 4, Continuous Atium: Once you reach this point at the end of the track, each time you’d go up the Training Track (including at the start of every turn), you gain an additional Atium token.

  3. Riot (Universal): Riot’s new text reads, “Activate the top ability of one of your allies that hasn’t been Rioted this turn.” Riot now allows you to activate allies that have been activated regularly by burning metal and does not prevent you from activating them for the rest of the turn.

Metal tokens & atium

  • Metal tokens can only be used once per round and may not be flared if they are already being burned.

  • You cannot flare Atium, so if you’ve already used all of your token burns, you won’t be able to burn the Atium. If you think you’ll burn Atium, it can be wise to flare the metals you used earlier in the turn to save room for the Atium!

  • No, if you’re allowed to burn three metal tokens on your turn, using a card as a metal does not reduce how many metals you can burn. That limit only applies to tokens.

  • Yes, you can! You cannot use it again, even after you unflare it, though.

  • Yes, you can flare metals at any time on your turn, even if you still have metal burns left.

Combat

  • Attacking a non-Defender ally reduces the amount of damage you have to attack all the other players. If you have 13 combat points and you spend 2 combat points to attack one player’s House Lord, you’ll have 11 combat points remaining to deal to each player. You’ll deal the full remaining damage to each.

  • All your damage points go to one pool that you may divide how you like between allies, adversaries, and the player with the target.

  • They can, indeed, letting them deal their remaining damage to all remaining opposing players. (In a three player game, it’s a moot point since you don’t use the target when there are only two players remaining.)

Missions

  • You will never move down a Mission track. Negative Mission points just reduce how many mission points you have on your turn.

Player abilities & allies

  • You do not! You can activate it once per turn for free.

  • The Smoker only reduces damage done to the player, not their allies.

  • Defenders only take their health total in damage, any remaining combat may then be spent on the player or other allies.

  • As long as you are burning their relevant metal, you can activate them at any time, not just when you start burning their metal. This means that if you play an Ally after you’re already burning a metal, you can activate it right away.

  • You must still draw the set aside card at the start of your turn

  • Each of those abilities can be activated once per turn, unless a Riot ability is used, which will allow one additional use for Ally abilities.

  • No, Ally cards can never be used to refresh metal tokens or to power other cards.

action cards

  • No Eliminate effect is ever required. Any time you need to eliminate a card, you may choose to not.

  • Cards can be eliminated from your hand, from your discard pile, or from play.

  • When you play a card and burn a metal for it, you must immediately activate all effects of that ability, in order. (Coins, Mission Points, and Combat Points all go into a pool, so you don’t need to use them right away.) You don’t need to activate any second abilities that require you to burn additional metals right away though, you can activate them later in the turn.

  • Yes! This can be helpful for activating allies and player abilities, or gaining savant bonuses.

  • No, you must declare when using a card as a metal which metal you want to use it as.

  • No, you can always choose not to complete abilities on your cards.

  • No, only the Bronze/Zinc used to activate the Seek and Riot in the first place!

  • No, abilities trigger immediately on powering, so any future combat/mission points will not be activated.

  • It can!

Solo & Co-op mode

  • Unless specifically stated, the Lord Ruler will only attack Defender Allies and you! He does have some attacks that affect your general allies though.

  • 2X (and 3X, 4X, etc.) multiply whatever X is by the first number. If X is equal to 3, 2X would be equal to 6.

  • In Solo mode, you will never take the effects directed at “a different player”, which can be a help and a hindrance.

  • Yes it does, since it says “defeat all opponents’ allies”, it would knock off every shield on every adversary.

miscellaneous

  • Their cards are effectively removed from the game, and their Mission cubes remain on their respective cards.

  • Reshuffle the Eliminated Pile to make a new Market deck.

  • No current card or Mission will give you boxings. Any cards that reference boxings now (like the Militia Adversary) or in future expansions will use the word “boxings” not the symbol.

  • Yes!
